Involvement/Support

Redbird's events and programs are open to all people, native and non native. We welcome both volunteers and financial contributions, and there are also a number of ways to contribute to Redbird at no personal cost whatsoever.

Financial Support

Your financial contributions can be earmarked for any of our current programs: the Children of Many Colors Powwow, the Blanket, Toy and School Supplies Drive and Mini- Powwow, the Forest Recovery Project, the Pinon Project, Chilao School or Highway 2 Art Show. We accept contributions online via Paypal, and via check or money order to our mailing address. When making contributions via Paypal, please make sure to choose the "donation" option, and Paypal will automatically generate a tax deductible contribution receipt. Monthly Giving - Affordable, Convenient, Secure

Small donations add up. Monthly giving programs are a great way to support causes you believe in without taking a big bite out of your budget. They also offer a measure of security for the charity by providing a dependable income. The easiest and most secure ways to set up a monthly donation program are through Paypal, or your bank via direct deport or automatic bill pay. To initiate an automated giving program with Paypal, use Paypal to make a donation to Redbird, and follow the prompts to set up an automatic donation. Almost all financial institutions offer an automatic bill pay program; if you aren't already using your bank's program, you can usually enroll online or contact a banker by phone or in person to help you get set up. If you need Redbird's banking information for direct deposit, please send us an email at [email protected] (which is also our Paypal email address).

Our beloved 1990 Suburban was a gift from the Schneider Family of South Pasadena, California, to whom we are very grateful. Please contact us via email to discuss your donation, including and make arrangements for pick-up or delivery.

Volunteering

If you are in the southern California area and want to volunteer, here are some suggestions:
Children of Many Colors Powwow - we always need ground crew for the event, as well as help getting out paper and virtual fliers. If you work for a corporation which has a charitable foundation or employee volunteer match program, your employer may make donations to non profit groups at the recommendation of its employees, and this is often a win-win situation for you, too.

Blanket, Toy and School Supplies Drive and Mini-Powwow - This annual event provides direct assistance for native families in need. Raising funds for shipping, or purchasing blankets throughout the year (which defers the cost of buying them all at once) are two excellent ways to support this gathering. Contacting manufacturers (for instance, toy or blanket manufacturers) to seek donations is another great way you can help. Spreading the word by distributing fliers and/or sharing the event on the internet are also valuable contributions. If you are a dancer or singer, know that we very much appreciate your participation in this effort.

Fund Raising is an ongoing labor. If you enjoy helping others through fund raising, are part of a charitable foundation that supports smaller entities, or company which has a social responsibility/corporate giving program, please share Redbird with your organization's staff.

The Chilao School property is in much better shape now than it was when we acquired it in 2012. We are currently engaged in replacing the roof on the caretaker residence, replacing flooring in both the school and the residence, and ongoing land maintenance. We need to install a handicap access ramp and rail at the school (concrete work) and remove (or cover) the stump of a large invasive tree. We also need skilled assistance with our wood pile; we have a day's worth of chain saw and splitting labor to turn our present wood pile into usable firewood. There are some smaller projects we hope to complete that might be suitable for a Boy Scout badge, such as replacing the wood seating area in front of the school, and refurbishing wooden picnic benches.

Redbird is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non profit association,
and your donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
